About my work
I work with stoneware, porcelain and raku clay bodies. Currently, much of my work is handbuilt, though some is wheel-thrown. Colored clay has been my focus for a number of years. Starting with white stoneware or porcelain, I add stains/colorants to the clay so I have a range of colors to use. Some pieces are made using the nerikomi technique, other pieces are fashioned by layering colors and patterns onto a base slab of clay, which is then shaped and fired.
The studio is solar-powered, but I had to tie into the grid for the kiln. I generate enough electricity to offset the electric bills.
