Shapes can be expressive.  Operating on this concept, I set out to explore the oval.  The oval is a much calmer, serene shape than a square, rectangle or triangle.

The first piece looked like a rock...a beautiful rock, battered by wind and sea.  The next vessel became sensuous and asked to be caressed.  The following vessels demanded to be sea/land/sky-scapes, as this combination fit perfectly on the oval.

Hurricanes Irma and Maria on September 6 and 17, 2017 influenced the next two vessels.  Perhaps the oval is not the perfect shape for post-hurricane sculpture, I pondered.  But we are still a community, being reborn, like a phoenix, so the egg shape was right.  The destruction is within the confines of the shape, and the suggestion of continuity exists in the oval.
